Airex performs low volume, high quality production work for high performance markets. Electromagnetic assemblies include custom coil configurations, linear motors, rotary motors, voice coil actuators, magnetic suspensions, magnetic bearings, fixed & rotary transformers and many more. We have complete design capabilities from Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to component level manufacturing designs to complete system design.

Wound Stator AssemblyOur quality system is world class and second to none. We routinely manufacture product and inspect components to tolerances below .00005". We use modern, automated manufacturing equipment including in-house cleaning and electrostatic coating capability. We perform ID/OD grinding to +/- 50 millionths of an inch. We are equipped for contacting and non-contacting ID and OD measurement and roundness testing to < .000020". Our use of vibration testing and thermal shock capability will qualify your components to space standards.

Wound ComponentsOur unique capabilities in control technology are used extensively in automated manufacturing and inspection systems for high reliability magnetic components. We produce difficult windings of critical proportions and are unmatched in the industry for quality and performance. We are equipped for winding a variety of specialty motors, and employ a wide range of custom and commercial winding equipment to that end. Our in-house engineering and design capacity are well suited to your specialized projects.

Airex builds high reliability magnetic components for space, aerospace, commercial and medical markets. We have supplied these components to preeminent organizations such as NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Litton Guidance and Control Systems, Raytheon's Santa Barbara Research Center and Hewlett Packard's Medical Imaging Systems Division. By dealing directly with manufacturing issues, Airex has an exceptional understanding of the solutions to manufacturing problems Lams to Wound Stacks Componentsencountered in these components, as well as the design techniques utilized to avoid those problems. We are also well positioned to find applications for commercialization efforts.

Airex abrasive waterjet (AWJ) technology is also linked to programs that require cost effective magnetic iron laminations from prototype through production quantities. The AWJ technologies developed by Airex increase the availability of high permeability magnet irons where laser cutting or punching of laminations damage the flux carrying capacity of the iron. We utilize these special irons in applications such as high performance magnetic bearing systems or highly constrained physical conditions.

Packaged PartsThe impact of our unique capabilities is to reduce development costs and time to market for both government and commercial applications. Additionally, the technology meets the high performance and maximum reliability requirements for brushless motor designs needed for critical Navy applications and guidance system components in Air Force weapons systems.

Our facilities also include a machine shop capable of developing prototype and permanent tooling, as well as development systems for robotic type motion control for automated inspection or assembly efforts. Airex has been designing automation machinery for key projects and specialty applications for over 50 years. These projects range from simple modification tooling to custom, microprocessor-based, robotic automation equipment.
